Just because a player enters the transfer portal doesn’t necessarily mean they have to go far. For former LSU wide receiver Khai Prean, this appears to be exactly the case, as he’s reportedly expected to land with the in-state Tulane Green Wave this spring.

Former LSU wide receiver Khai Prean trending to land with the Green Wave

Khai Prean is one of just two wide receivers to leave the Tigers this offseason to pursue other options in the spring transfer portal. While fellow rising sophomore Jalen Brown elected to use this opportunity to leave the state altogether and join Florida State out East, it appears that Prean might be taking things in a different direction.

Earlier today, it was reported by Matt Zenitz of 247Sports that the former LSU wide receiver is expected to stay in-state for his transfer destination, as he’s now trending to land with head coach Willie Fritz and Tulane.

Notably, if this expectation follows through, Prean, a 6-foot, 202-pound pass catcher out of Belle Rose, LA, would become the fifth wide receiver to land with the Green Wave through the portal this offseason.

He would join fellow three-star or better transfers Shazz Preston (Alabama), Mario Williams (USC), Terez Traynor (Idaho) and Jaylon Griffin (UCF) to form what very well could be one of the more underrated pass catching groups in the entire country.

Khai Prean didn’t see game action in his one year with the Tigers, but had an opportunity to show off his speed during the 2024 National L-Club Spring Game – taking a deep pass from rising freshman Colin Hurley all the way to the endzone late in the 4th quarter.

He currently ranks No. 656 nationally among fellow transfers and No. 104 at his position, according to 247Sports. He was also rated as a four-star recruit in the class of 2023, finishing as the No. 13 player in-state.
