Are you ready for Opening Day? March 28th is just around the corner for Texas Rangers fans like you. Rangers right-handed pitcher Nathan Eovaldi will start in the Rangers’ Opening Day game against the Chicago Cubs at Globe Life Field on March 28th. The Rangers aren’t only a fun team to watch but also one of MLB’s best teams at the moment. The Rangers’ coaching staff seems competent as the Rangers players appear to be in sync. Here are this week’s five hottest Rangers headlines.

5. Maybe NASCAR Is Onto Something

Rumors began circulating on March 21st that the Texas Rangers and Atlanta Braves could play a game against each other at Bristol Motor Speedway soon. If that’s the case, the Rangers-Braves matchup would be the first professional baseball game to take place at a racetrack, per the Johnson City Press. Hopefully, that will happen, but the earliest that would happen is sometime in 2025 as the 2024 schedule is already set. The Rangers’ presence, the Braves’ inclusion, and the Bristol Motor Speedway’s popularity would make this a great game to watch in the near future.

4. Perhaps the Fourth Time’s the Charm

Free-agent, right-handed pitcher Michael Lorenzen is reportedly in agreement with the Texas Rangers on a one-year, $4.5 million contract pending a physical, per Ken Rosenthal’s Twitter. Rosenthal added that Lorenzen’s contract includes $2.5 million in incentives, and maxes out at $7 million. The Rangers will be Lorenzen’s fourth MLB team since the Cincinnati Reds granted him free agency in November 2021. Lorenzen posted a 23-23 record and 4.07 ERA in 295 appearances for the Reds between 2015 and 2021. But only 26 of his appearances were starts. Lorenzen joins his former Reds teammate, Tyler Mahle, on the Rangers’ pitching rotation, which has been riddled with injuries. Lorenzen’s past can be described as wishy-washy, but perhaps the fourth time’s the charm for the 32-year-old right-hander.

3. Baseball-Legal Partnership Is so Beneficial

Bailey & Galyen Attorneys at Law, a consumer law firm in Texas, announced a ten-year extension of its collaboration with the Texas Rangers on March 21st. The partnership will build success on Bailey & Galyen’s original two-year contract with the Rangers. Phillip Galyen, Owner and President of Bailey & Galyen, said in a statement, “Our presence has been felt not only in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex but also across the entire state of Texas … Being recognized as the Official Law Firm of the Texas Rangers has been a source of pride for Bailey & Galyen, especially as we watched the team win the World Series last year, and we are honored to continue our partnership.” Jim Cochrane, Chief Revenue Officer of the Texas Rangers, said in a statement, “The Texas Rangers are proud to extend our partnership with Bailey & Galyen as they showcase their long-term commitment to the Texas Rangers organization and our fans … Our vision at the outset for this partnership was to partner with a respected local law firm built on integrity. Bailey & Galyen has delivered on that vision and more. We look forward to having the Bailey & Galyen name on our suite level for the next decade and continuing to advocate for and educate our fans, not only in Dallas-Fort Worth but across all of Rangers country, on the importance of responsible drinking.” The partnership between Bailey & Galyen and the Rangers will help both parties, including the Rangers fans, succeed in more ways than one.

2. The Future Looks Bright

The future looks bright for the Texas Rangers.

The Rangers’ small-town rookies Evan Carter, an Elizabethton, Tennessee, native, and Wyatt Langford, a Trenton, Florida, native, are making a big-league impact. Carter is a year younger than Langford, but his maturity and professionalism belies his young age of 21. Langford’s small-town work ethic reportedly came with big-league dreams, and as a result, he gained the trust and confidence of his teammates. Both Carter and Langford share similar backgrounds, play the same position on the baseball diamond, and somehow earned Opening Day roles on a World Championship team. Best of luck to the up-and-coming outfielders!

1. Up All Night

The Texas Rangers gold-trimmed jerseys and caps were available at 9 a.m. Central on March 21st at the team’s Grand Slam Team Store at Globe Life Field. The Rangers gold-trimmed swag, however, was sold within the first 30 minutes of the team store’s opening. Rangers fans flooded the team store to get their hands on the team’s swag, which celebrates the team’s first World Championship title, and some, if not most, of the fans camped out at the ballpark to be the first in line. The Rangers’ “Gold Collection” merchandise line is popular, to say the least. If you missed your chance to get your hands on the team’s gold-trimmed swag, you shouldn’t worry. The swag is now available on the team’s online team shop.
