Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic Drops Heartfelt Kyrie Irving Confession After Game 4 Loss Vs. Clippers: ‘I’m Letting Him Down’
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic had another forgettable outing on Sunday against the Los Angeles Clippers — by his high standards, of course.

Doncic finished with 29 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, a block, and three turnovers. However, the fact that he shot 1-of-9 from deep and 10-of-24 overall dampened an otherwise impressive performance from the five-time All-Star.

Dallas Mavericks News: Luka Doncic Admits Lack of Support for Kyrie Irving

It was Kyrie Irving who stepped up in Game 4, as he went off for 40 points in yet another amazing display of offensive prowess. It still wasn’t enough, though, as a Kawhi Leonard-less Clippers side took down the Mavs at the American Airlines Center, 116-111, to even out the series at 2-2.

After the loss, Doncic admitted that he feels bad for not giving Irving enough support:

“I just got to help him more,” Doncic said, via Grant Afseth of MavericksGameday.com. “I feel like I’m letting him down, so I got to be there, I got to help him more. He’s giving everything he has and he’s been amazing for us the whole series.”

Doncic and Irving have established one of the most terrifying backcourt partnerships in the NBA today. However, as Luka confessed, he feels as though it’s only Kyrie who has been holding up his end of the bargain of late.

Doncic, in particular, will have a point to prove in Game 5 on Wednesday.
