The Green Bay Packers are gearing up to take on the Miami Dolphins on Christmas Day. In short, the Packers need to win this game in order to have a realistic chance of making the playoffs. Of course, it would help if the Packers can put their best players, fully healthy, on the field. Left tackle David Bakhtiari has missed the last few weeks after having an emergency surgery to remove his appendix. In today’s media session, head coach Matt LaFleur gave an update on Bakhtiari’s progress.

Matt LaFleur was asked if David Bakhtiari would return to practice today to prepare for the Miami game. LaFleur’s response was short: “Dave will not be out at practice today.” LaFleur did not provide any further updates on his status for game day.
Earlier today, it was reported that offensive guard Elgton Jenkins and the Packers agreed to a four-year $68 million contract extension. Of course, that was the main subject of LaFleur’s press conference today.
The first question LaFleur was asked was if he had contacted Jenkins to congratulate him on his contract extension. LaFleur joked, “Yeah, I told him I couldn’t wait to see our presents. He got a nice little Christmas bonus there.”
LaFleur continued, “No, it’s a great day for us, a great day for Elgton. Obviously he’s earned it, and he does it the right way… He’s been awesome ever since he stepped foot in this building. He just brings so much to our team. I’m just really, really, really excited, and that’s just nice little Christmas present for all of us.”
