Finnish entrepreneur Thomas Zilliacus has entered the race to buy Manchester United and wants the help of fans.

The Glazer family are currently entertaining offers for the Manchester club which they have owned since 2005.

The two main parties which have been interested are Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Qatari billionaire, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. They have already submitted proposals but are expected to go back in with a world-record second bid.

But another party is planning on throwing their hat into the ring, Finnish entrepreneur Thomas Zilliacus.

According to The Mirror, he is proposing a "fan ownership model" where decisions can be made through the use of an app.

He is proposing to pay for half of the club and that fans pay for the other.

“Any sports club ultimately should belong to its fans. The current development, where billionaire sheikhs and oligarchs take over clubs and control them as their personal playgrounds is not a healthy trend,” he said.
